What is a volunteer?
There are many definitions of a volunteer, but to be a Senior Surfer volunteer it takes a special kind of person. A person who willingly accepts a challenge to take on a task without expecting reimbursement, or recognition for the work they do. They also are expected to follow the club’s mission “To have fun!.” In addition to recognizing the volunteer’s efforts for our club, we try to honor those individuals that also volunteer elsewhere in the community.
One of the benefits of volunteering is that it allows you to connect to your fellow members. Helping out with even the smallest of tasks can make a real difference to the success of the club and its members. It is a great way to make new friends and maybe even learn a new skill. And have fun!
The Volunteer Spotlight, every other month, recognizes those individuals who fulfill the definition of a Senior Surfer volunteer. If you would like to volunteer for our club, but don’t know where you might fit in, send us a message and we will find a place for you. Or if you know of a club member that meets the above criteria and feel should be recognized, please let us know. Send an email to nscsurfers@gmail.com to nominate a candidate.
